2023 Silver Camera Winner

Sakir Khader, a Palestinian-Dutch documentary photographer and filmmaker, claimed the 2023 Silver Camera with his powerful black and white series ‘Life on the West Bank before 7 October’. The jury said the following: ‘The series stands out for its photographic quality and emotional impact. You can see the photographer’s longstanding engagement with this subject, as well as his ability to connect with the region’s residents. This series sheds light on the fact that, while global attention has been on Gaza since 7 October, the inhabitants of the West Bank have likewise endured high tensions throughout the year, with tragic consequences.’
