About Pieke the Museumbird
Pieke the Museum Bird is the creation of the famous puppet maker and actor Pieke Dassen from Maastricht. Among other things, Pieke starred in the popular Dutch children’s programme De Film van Ome Willem! In 1992, an exhibition on Pieke was held in the predecessor to the Limburgs Museum. The museum asked Pieke to help think about an appealing children’s guide for the museum. It became the museum bird. The museum named the bird after its creator: Pieke.

On display in the museum are carnival paintings made by Pieke Dassen. You’ll find them in the permanent exhibition Limburg… a perpetual motion of recreation.
