Within city walls

City life in Limburg 1350-1795

Always on show

Wander through the city of the past.

Medieval cities were filthy, nasty, dangerous and unhealthy. But many people from the country felt drawn to the city. Cities performed an important role as trading centres. Farmers sold their produce on the market here and craftsmen offered their wares. The brewer, the chemist, the fisherman, the pin maker and the tanner. Curious about what they had to offer? And what they needed a box of weights for?

Curious about where these lovely medieval utensils and household items were found? Then take a look into the medieval bear pit. Would you also succeed, like an archaeologist, in making a lovely goblet out of fragments of glass?

Tomorrow we are open from 11:00 until 17:00.
